Solar & battery storage

Solar and batteries, explained honestly

Before anyone talks panel counts, we look at your PG&E bills, your roof and how long you plan to stay. Then we tell you straight whether it pencils out for your house.

A home with solar panels, a battery and the sun

Is solar right for your home?

We look at your home as a whole first. Sometimes the right answer is a different upgrade, or not yet.

Your roof and sun

Orientation, shade and the age of your roof shape what a system can do. If the roof needs work soon, we'll say so first.

How you use energy

We read your utility bills to see how and when you use power, so any estimate starts from your real usage.

Your plans for the home

How long you expect to stay, and what else is on your list, like an EV or a battery, changes what makes sense.

How it works with Sanctuary

Three steps, at your pace. You can stop at any point.

  1. 01

    Tell us about your home

Share a few details and, if you like, a recent utility bill. We use it to understand your usage, and we don't share it without your permission.

  2. 02

    Talk through your options

We explain what a system could look like, what it depends on and the tradeoffs, with no obligation.

  3. 03

    Meet one vetted partner

When you're ready, and with your permission, we introduce one licensed partner we've checked carefully. They quote, contract and do the work with you directly, and we're still here if questions come up.

Things worth knowing up front

Solar and storage are 20-plus-year decisions. These are the conversations we have with everyone.

Paying for it

Paying upfront, financing and leasing each change the math in different ways. We lay them out side by side. Financing is offered by third-party lenders and is subject to their approval.

Incentives change over time

Incentives may be available. We'll tell you what may apply today so you can decide at your own pace. Sanctuary does not provide tax advice; please confirm with a tax professional.

Timelines depend on others

Permits and PTO, your utility's permission to turn your system on, set the pace. Your installer handles those steps, and we're happy to explain where things stand.

Estimates depend on your home, energy use, utility rates and other factors. Actual results will vary.

Common questions

Will solar lower my bill?

It can, but the honest answer is "it depends." Your usage, your rate plan and your roof all matter, so we show you the assumptions behind any estimate.

Do I need a battery too?

Not always. A battery is mostly about backup during outages and using your solar in the evening. For some homes it's worth it. For others it isn't yet.

Who installs the system?

A licensed, independent solar contractor we've vetted. We introduce one, and only after you say so.

What if I decide not to go solar?

Then you don't. Plenty of people talk with us and decide to wait. That's fine with us.

Ready when you are

Tell us about your home and we'll follow up to talk through your options, with no obligation.
